Big Concert Hall "Oktyabrsky"
The grand opening of the Great Oktyabrsky Concert Hall took place in the fall of 1967. On October 25, the first concert was held for the builders of the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall. The main concert hall was named the Great Concert Hall "Oktyabrsky".

This sparkling building made of glass and sunny Saarema dolomite rose in the city center near Vosstaniya Square between Ligovsky and Grechesky Avenues.
Its strict modern appearance fits surprisingly harmoniously into the classical ensemble of ancient St. Petersburg. The hall, built according to the design of a group of architects headed by A.V. Zhuk, was originally created as an analogue of the Kremlin Palace of Congresses and was intended for holding ceremonial meetings, city events and film screenings.
But since its opening, a wonderful creative team has formed at the BKZ, which has turned Oktyabrsky into a genuine cultural center.
Over the years, the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall has become a favorite vacation spot for St. Petersburg residents and guests of the Northern capital, a home for many wonderful artists.
Director - artistic director of the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall, Emma Vasilievna Lavrinovich, has been working in the concert hall since 1972.
In 1988 she was elected director of the BKZ. Member of the Union of Concert Workers of the Russian Federation, Honored Worker of Culture of Russia. In 1979 she graduated from the Higher Trade Union School of Culture. During the period of fruitful work in the field of domestic culture, she gained wide recognition from the creative intelligentsia of the city and country, Russian and foreign pop stars, the public and the administration of St. Petersburg.
Emma Vasilievna, working as a director and providing general management of the hall, is also the artistic director of the BKZ.
On March 11, 2008, for great services in the development of national culture and art, many years of fruitful activity, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, a decree was signed awarding Lavrinovich E.V.
Order of Honor. The awards ceremony took place on May 20, 2008 in Smolny.
The state award was presented by the Governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko.
