The first performance of the young acting group was the comedy of the classic Italian drama Eduardo de Filippo “Passion in Italian”.
The performance consisted of 3 small plays, which were performed in front of the audience by traveling comedians. The sparkling humor, charm, cheerfulness, and most importantly the skill of the young artists immediately won the love of the audience. Since then, to be precise, since December 25, 1989, a new drama theater has appeared in St. Petersburg - “Comedians”. The play “Passion in Italian” has become the hallmark of the troupe and is still running successfully. In 2009 we turned 20 years old. And since then, the emblem and symbol of the theater has been a small figurine of a comedian, as a wandering artist of any genre has been called since ancient times. For the first few years, the theater wandered around different venues in the city and region, until in 1993 the artists received premises in a building known as the “Pertsov House” on Ligovsky Prospekt.
The theater hall is small - only 100 seats, but this is what gives us the opportunity to be closer to those for whom we created the theater - our audience. In chamber theater, the actor’s individuality and the art of experiencing come to the fore; here you cannot lie or “go too far.” And every work, be it a classic - the basis of the theater's repertoire, or modern drama - sounds here in a particularly sincere way.
