Lantern Bridge
The Lantern Bridge connects Lantern Lane with Pochtamtsky Lane. The bridge got its name from the name of the Lantern drinking house, located in the Lantern Lane of the same name, which most likely received its name from the lantern workshops located in this area.

Historical information about the bridge
Since the middle of the 18th century, a wooden crossing was built across the river at this place.
This bridge was repeatedly reconstructed during the 18th - 19th centuries. One version of the wooden pedestrian bridge was built in 1906. The bridge became dilapidated, and in 1971-1973 it was replaced by a new, reinforced concrete single-span one, designed by engineer L. I. Sobolev and architect L. A. Noskov.
The design of the bridge was inherited from the Podyachesky Bridge, built according to the design of the same authors. The frame is built in the form of consoles connected by an imperfect hinge; the bridge supports also form a reverse arch. The facades of the reinforced concrete bridge structures are decorated with profiled metal sheets.
Such measures made it possible to create a harmonious architectural ensemble with the rest of the 19th century bridges located downstream and upstream of the Moika River. Decorative floor lamps with lanterns, stylized as classicism architecture, were installed at the entrances to the bridge. In 2003, as part of the lighting design program for city bridges, artistic lighting of the bridges was organized. Work on installing the backlight began on January 25, 2004. Every evening, simultaneously with the switching on of the city's outdoor lighting, the illumination is turned on, emphasizing the architectural beauty of the Lantern Bridge.
