The Ice Palace is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment complex where sports competitions can be held: hockey, figure skating, short track speed skating, boxing, all types of wrestling, basketball, volleyball, ballroom dancing, gymnastics; concerts of world-class stars: opera singers, symphony orchestras, as well as performances by modern foreign and domestic pop stars; circus shows; exhibitions and fairs, conferences, celebrations of anniversaries of organizations and companies with tables for up to 1000 seats, a dance floor and a stage.

Construction of the Ice Palace began in 1998, completed in 2000.
The Ice Palace was built specifically for the World Ice Hockey Championship in St. Petersburg in 2000. Customer - OJSC "Palace of Sports". The general contractor is Skanska East Europe Oy.
Design studies were carried out by the design institute JSC LenNIIproekt. The feasibility study and architectural concept were developed by the Moscow Research and Design Institute of Cultural, Recreation, Sports and Health Facilities (MNIIP).
The development of working documentation was provided by the design bureau of JSC Eagle Group St. Petersburg and Eagle Group Internationa1. The Ice Palace is a five-story building with an area of 37,000 m2, a volume of 370,000 m3, 12,300 spectator seats, 74 boxes, a hockey field area of 30x60 meters, if you remove the hockey boards and move the sliding part of the stands, the field area increases to 3300 m2.
The height of the hall to the lower belt of the trusses is 22 meters. In the center of the hall there is a scoreboard on which there are four television screens with an area of 12 m2 (3x4 m). There is a 1.2 meter high LED screen along the entire perimeter of the scoreboard. The facade glazing area is about 5000 m2.
Large foyers on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors allow viewers to walk around the hall in a circle.
There are 30 cafes in the lobby. Good ventilation and air conditioning provide spectators with comfortable conditions both in the hall and in the foyer in any weather. Multifunctional hall of the press center with an area of 700 sq. m.

Since the opening of the Ice Palace, which took place in April 2000, our hall has hosted more than 500 concerts, 370 sporting events, 98 corporate events, 59 days of exhibitions, and a skating rink for more than 1,700 days.
All these events were attended by more than 4,900,000 people. Every year the number of events taking place at the Ice Palace increases by an average of 10%. Over the course of six years, the Palace hosted: the World Hockey Championships, the World Handball Championships, the European Figure Skating Championships, the European Figure Skating Grand Prix Finals, the European Sports and Ballroom Dancing Championships, the European Hockey Champions Cup (three times), Stages Mototrial World Cup, Russian Figure Skating Championships, Russian Sambo Championships, Russian Hockey Championships and other competitions.
