Murinsky Park is an ideal place to relax within the city...
Address:St. Petersburg, Murinsky Park
The total area of the park is 98 hectares. In the 1980s, a decision was made to create a recreation area, but active work in the floodplain of Murinsky Stream began only in the early 2000s. In August 2009, the first bicycle path in St. Petersburg was laid in Murinsky Park. 4 years later, in winter, LED lighting was installed in the park.
In Murinsky Park there is one of the original places of the Kalininsky district - a sculpture garden, which was created in the mid-80s by Alexander Chernitsky. Therefore, sometimes this place is named after the founding sculptor. Previously, there were 6 statues in the garden by A. Chernitsky, now you can see only 4: “Ogre”, “Girl”, “Rising Sun” and “Earth”. All sculptures are made of granite, and their height does not exceed one and a half meters.
In 2001, the garden collection was replenished with an owl, a bear, a monkey, a hippopotamus, a hare and a crocodile. The new statues are significantly different from the previous ones: they look like Slavic idols and are made of wood. The authors of the works were students of the art school named after N.K. Roerich.
