The State Museum of the History of Religion is the only one in the Russian Federation and one of the few museums in the world whose exhibitions present the history of the emergence and development of religion.
The Museum's holdings number about 200,000 exhibits.
These are historical and cultural monuments of different eras and peoples, the oldest of which date back to the 6th millennium BC: from the Paleolithic to the European Middle Ages; from Ancient Egypt to modern times; Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, as well as a children's section-transformer of the permanent exhibition "The Beginning of Beginnings".
