The armored cruiser Aurora was built in St. Petersburg at the New Admiralty shipyard.
The construction cost was 7 million rubles. It was launched in 1900, and in 1904 it took part in the Russo-Japanese War. In 1905, the cruiser took part in the Battle of Tsushima, where she lost her captain, a significant part of the crew and received serious damage.
During the First World War, the cruiser carried out patrol duty in the Baltic Sea. Since 1922, she became a training ship for training naval officers. During the Great Patriotic War, the cruiser was part of the air defense system of Leningrad and was stationed in the port of Oranienbaum, where it received serious damage and sank. Since 1948, the restored cruiser "Aurora" has been permanently moored opposite the Nakhimov Naval School, as evidenced by the memorial sign "Eternal Mooring" installed on the embankment in 1976.
