It was here that I.E. Repin (1844 - 1930) lived for the last 30 years and wished to be buried.
The estate became one of the first memorial museums in the country under the auspices of the Russian Academy of Arts. In the “Penates”, revived after the war, you can see the artist’s personal belongings, his paintings and drawings, the works of his son, Yuri, and the works of other Russian painters.
In total, “Penates” stores about six hundred works of painting and graphics. The house preserves the memorial appearance of rooms that bear the imprint of the tastes and habits of the owner: workshop, dining room, office, veranda.
A visit to the museum includes getting acquainted with the exhibition, watching old newsreels depicting I.E. Repin in his house, visiting the memorial park and the surrounding area, which inspired many Russian artists and writers.
