“Museum + Theater” is an unusual project that combines history, literature and theatrical art.
In the small hall of the Fountain House you can see chamber performances dedicated to Anna Akhmatova and key figures of 20th-century literature, as well as experimental performances by invited groups. But the calling card of the project is unique performances for the whole family based on the best works of world children's classics. The heroes of Alexander Pushkin, Lewis Carroll, Antoine de Saint-Exupery tell viewers about love and friendship, honesty and loyalty to ideals, talk about the magic of childhood and the strange world of adults.
Each production is a vibrant performance in which not only actors, three-dimensional and shadow puppets, and animated characters take part, but also the audience, whose opinion often influences the development of the plot. It is better to come to performances in advance - before the performance you can take part in a museum workshop or a literary game. The project's performances are winners of numerous festivals, including the International Festival of Children's Theaters "TEATRALIA" (Madrid, Spain), the International Festival "WALISKA" (Lomza, Poland), the festival "Theatres of St. Petersburg for Children", etc.
Since 2013, The museum hosts its own theater festival – “The Golden Chain” – during which you can watch all your favorite productions in one week.
