The famous and only naturist beach in the Leningrad region, which has already left its mark on world history: five years ago it became one of the “1000 best beaches and vacation spots for nudists in the world” and was included in the catalog of the same name.
Address:
Sestroretsk, Zarechnaya road, 3A
And this high rating is confirmed from year to year - this is one of the cleanest and most comfortable beaches, because the vacationers themselves are responsible for cleaning it.
It got its name from the famous Dunes boarding house (located nearby), and became popular in the 60s.
But it acquired official status only forty years later - in 1992, after the creation of the organization “St. Petersburg Society for Free Body Culture”. Nudist beach
These days, the beach is again considered unofficial, and therefore any encroachment on its territory is quite appropriate.
For example, in the spring they began to restore the bed of the Malaya Sestra River here and, naturally, they did not stand on ceremony with the nudist beach. Now its territory resembles a huge construction site, and its size has shrunk so much that this weekend vacationers were forced to sunbathe almost right next to the water (quite a few of them gathered here - about 500 people). Among the visitors to the Dunes beach there are nudists (who undress to get a beautiful tan), naturists (nudity helps them express trust in others and be closer to nature), and those who simply came to observe.
The number of vacationers here on different days ranges from 400 to 5000 people. And here the point is not only that this is the only beach where you can sunbathe without a swimsuit. But also in that it is very close: only 30 km from the city center. Despite the fact that this is a resort area of the Karelian Isthmus, swimming here is officially prohibited.
However, there are more than enough people who want to plunge into the Gulf of Finland: they do not give in to any prohibitions, persuasion or warnings. Like other beaches, people love volleyball, frisbee, badminton here, and on the hottest days they organize dancing and competitions.
For example, body art competitions. Anyone wishing to use the showers located along the neighboring beaches must take their swimwear with them; naked people are not allowed there.
This also applies to visiting coastal cafes and bars, of which there are quite a lot. Vacationers dug up an interesting find on the Dunes beach in 1986: two granite boundary pillars of the 20th century. In the distant 30s, they served as a dividing mark between Russia and Finland. However, this spring, workers restoring the bed of the Malaya Sestra River, either through carelessness or ignorance, dismantled the pillars and covered them with sand. Experienced visitors immediately discovered the loss and rushed to search. The pillars were found, and now local deputies are deciding their future fate. It is quite possible that after completion of the work they will decorate the nudist beach again.
