He was the first in everything. A famous scientist, writer, historian, geographer, metallurgist, in general, a person interested in everything. There are still legends about him, one of the most popular is how he went on foot from his native Arkhangelsk region to Moscow in search of knowledge.

This is all about Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov.
The monument to the great scientist is located in the center of St. Petersburg, near the State University, at the intersection of the University Embankment and the Mendeleevskaya Line. Why was the monument built here?
The place was not chosen at random - as a student, Mikhail Vasilyevich studied at this university, and after some time he became the rector of the university, this was one of the brightest stages in the history of the university. Today, many students like to “cram near Lomonosov” - the place is quiet, cozy, and, perhaps, the image of the scientist inspires them to “gnaw the granite of science” harder. In addition, every year near this monument on September 1, students are initiated here. The monument reaches three meters in height.
The figure of Lomonosov is full of solemnity. Let him sit and his right hand rest on his knee, but the pose itself is full of energy and movement. The famous poet’s gaze is directed forward, his thin lips are closed, the thinker’s broad forehead is tense. It seems that Mikhail Vasilyevich, here, in silence, near the Neva River, is also thinking about the future of Russia, about the unique path of the country and about what the country has already had to endure. The date of installation of this monument is 1886, it turns out that it is one of the latest monuments dedicated to the scientist, and hence the scope with which M.V. Lomonosov is depicted. The construction of this monument was timed to celebrate the round anniversary - 275 years since the birth of the writer. B.A. Petrov and V.D. Sveshnikov worked on the project and sketches, who created a monument in the best traditions of Russian classicism. The monument is made of bronze.
