The park at the Forestry Academy in St. Petersburg is a rather remarkable area. At the beginning of the 19th century, the so-called “English farm” of Alexander Davidson was located on this site, which was later replaced by the Forestry Institute, which moved to the city from what was then Tsarskoe Selo.

The territory of the Forestry Academy Park, an almost untouched forest, was used for some time only for student classes.
But gradually it began to be refined and acquire the features of a landscaped park with paths, greenhouses and plant nurseries. Since 1830, this work was carried out under the direction of the English gardener Joseph Bush. Unfortunately, further expansion of the city and circumstances related to the Forestry Institute led to the fact that the park was reduced in area and lost some of its charm. Nowadays, it is an old park with its own charm, not without its originality. In addition, there are several historical details. For example, a stone stele dedicated to a tragic duel of the early 19th century. Or a small obelisk dedicated to those who fell during the October Revolution.
