Pavlovsk Park is part of the palace and park ensemble of the 18th-19th centuries of the era of Paul I and is considered one of the largest parks in Europe, covering an area of 600 hectares. From the first days of its existence, Pavlovsky Park has been the most colorful park, combining plains and hills, the harmony of which in the landscape is complemented by the Slavyanka River.
Address:
Pavlovsk, st. Sadovaya, 20 (opposite the railway station).
One of the notable places in the park is the Pavlovsk Palace, built in the second half of the 18th century according to the design of the architect Cameron.
Later, the palace acquired the status of a country residence of Paul I. Each component of the park is magnificent; it is loved by guests and attracts them with the decoration of flower beds, roads and shrubs located in the central part. If you walk along the Central Alley, you will see the Pavilion of the Three Graces, supported by 16 columns.
Next, you will see the magnificence of the Aviary Pavilion, made in a classical style. It is a high hall with a dome, around which Doric colonnades and rooms are located. There is a statue of Flora in the Aviary. Continuing their walk, visitors will be able to contemplate the beauty of a semicircular gazebo, decorated with columns and a semi-dome and called the Rossi Pavilion, in which a monument to Empress Maria Feodorovna is installed. Along the way, guests will encounter unusual landscapes and views, including the Milk House, formerly a rustic cobblestone building with a thatched roof. Now it is the Park Pavilion. In the area of the Slavyanka River you can see the “Temple of Friendship” and the colonnade of Apollo, between which the “Cold Bath” and “Bridge of Centaurs” spread their spaces.
The Old Sylvia Park area is notable for its twelve sculptures. Located on separate paths, they are the personification of muses, goddesses, as well as divine messengers. And in the center of the circle is a sculpture of Apollo Belvedere. This place is especially popular with tourists and is wildly popular with photographers. The final accent of the listed ensemble is the monument to the parents, previously known as the monument to Sister Maria Feodorovna. The ensemble of New Sylvia, located in a dense forest, attracts attention with the granite mausoleum “To the Benefactor Consort”, as well as the Column made of pink marble called “The End of the World”. The “Big Star” area is known for such an architectural monument as the Round Hall, which is located in the central part. The parade ground of Pavlovsk Park previously served for military maneuvers. The bright landscape of the park is a combination of the beauty of the river, architectural monuments in harmony with silence, conducive to complete relaxation.
Now Pavlovsky Park is a picturesque place with a pond, in the center of which there is an island, poured in honor of Maria Feodorovna’s friend. The main place and the forest landscape park are connected by the Rose Pavilion - a wooden building with a dome, around which there is a flower garden of rare varieties of roses. This amazing and so diverse park is still popular today. It is loved and visited by both local residents and guests of St. Petersburg and its suburbs.
