The main residence of the St. Petersburg State Budgetary Institution “Petersburg-Concert” is located on the embankment of the Fontanka River, between the Anichkov Bridge and the Lomonosov Bridge in a mansion known as the Kochneva House, built in 1805–1809 by the architect Luigi Rusca.
Opposite the mansion there is a convenient descent to the Fontanka, suitable for mooring ships and boats. In addition to performances and concerts, the Kochneva House regularly hosts excursions, during which you can hear a fascinating story about what St. Petersburg was like at the beginning of the 19th century, how the mansion was built, and what amazing people lived in it.
Mirrored living room, or White Hall
This is the main hall of the enfilade of the mansion.
From the first day of the house's existence, music was played here. Here the luxurious ceiling, painted by the famous artist Schler, has been perfectly preserved. The polychrome composition depicts a female figure soaring in the clouds, Pegasus - a symbol of poetic inspiration, and putti - winged boys. Along the perimeter of the room, the great Russian sculptor Ivan Ivanovich Terebenev made beautiful bas-reliefs, and the painting between the ceiling and bas-reliefs was by J. Scotti. The main decoration of the living room is the huge mirrors, made at the Imperial Porcelain Factory at the beginning of the 19th century and which have not lost their shine and depth. Study
During the time of the first owners of the mansion - the Ilins - there was a formal dining room here, then, with the Kochnevys, this room was reserved for the office of the owner of the house, and this name was assigned to the room.
The paintings on the ceiling and side frieze were done by J. Scotti. The fireplace is the pride of this room. It is made from a stone called serpentine by the Italian craftsman Guidi. All decorative decoration creates a special unique atmosphere of warmth and comfort. The walls of the cabinet are completed with a molded frieze of leaves and rosettes and a cornice with modules. Above the doors leading to the adjacent rooms, desudeports by M. P. Aleksandrov-Uzhazhny have been preserved. Grisaille
This room for the Ilyins served as the reception room of the owner of the house, and for the Kochnevys it served as the boudoir of the hostess, Olga Alexandrovna.
Here she received close friends, read, and did handicrafts. Grisaille is a single-color decorative painting on a frieze, about 1.3 m wide, imitating modeling. The ceiling is divided into three fields: the middle one is large, plain, with beveled corners, in which there are medallions depicting a female and male head, and two side ones, depicting mythological scenes. Grisaille is made in grayish-green tones. Above the grisaille there is a molded meander belt. Home theater
The room of the former dining room, turned into a theater hall, is magnificent: on the ceiling there is a blue lampshade framed by an ornamental belt by Scotti, a picturesque frieze, a cornice with modules, and above the doors there are desudéportes in the form of stucco rectangular panels depicting vines.
The main decoration is the caryatids of the sculptor Opekushin. The hall is intimate, cozy, with a small stage and backstage. The enfilade of state halls of the Kochneva House makes it possible to stage unique interior performances, during which the audience, together with the artists, move from one space to another.
