The former Kirov Islands are built up with magnificent palaces, estates, and theaters.
The unique garden and park ensemble became the first example of landscape design of the islands. All the islands became favorite recreation areas for city residents in the post-revolutionary period. In 1945, a group of architects - A. Nikolsky, V. Stepanov, P. Volkov, V. Medvedev developed a project for a memorial monument dedicated to the victory of the Soviet people over Nazi Germany. The memorial was erected on Krestovsky Island. The park was planned and built in such a way that it fully preserved the original combination of regular and landscape style of landscape design. The new park was called Victory Park. It was intended for holding special events, mass celebrations, and holidays.
