The restaurant is located on the second floor of a historic building built in 1880.
The spacious hall looks like a real corner of Victorian England: oak panels, embossed wallpaper, solid furniture, portraits of royalty in gilded frames, an antique grandfather clock with a chime. The Fontanka splashes outside the windows (it seems like the Thames). Here, the austerity of the Victorian style is surprisingly combined with truly homely comfort, and the atmosphere of an English club from 19th-century novels is conducive to leisurely meals and long conversations: especially if you sit at a table on a secluded podium in the back of the room or in a leather chair by a real wood-burning fireplace.
