The viewer sits under the dome, and thus has the opportunity to see the picture around him.
This is precisely the option that is not available in the usual format of watching films, which makes the ATMASFERA 360 project unique and distinguishes it from going to a regular cinema. To achieve its goal, Front Pictures joined forces with the Kyiv Planetarium - and the scientific and entertainment center ATMASFERA 360 was opened in December 2011.
The name “planetarium” itself implies that its dome displays images of the sky, planets, stars and other space objects.
Examples known to modern history include Egyptian and ancient planetariums, which were predominantly simply images of the starry sky drawn on spheres. Or, for example, the oldest operating planetarium, the Eise Eising Planetarium in Holland, built back in 1781, which is a model of the Solar System. However, now is the time to go beyond the classical model. The planetarium now shows full-dome cinema. The films shown in ATMASFERA 360 are specially created by the Spherical Cinema Society and combine educational and entertaining elements in order to harmoniously present the functions of the planetarium and the show.
The hall in which films are shown is one of the largest in Europe; Front Pictures created a unique image and sound design system especially for it. The viewer is given a choice - there are regular seats with headrests, as well as bean bags with increased comfort in the center of the hall.
