The theater and concert complex "Junior Hall" was born on January 10, 2012.
It unites the Carnival Concert Hall (762 seats) and the Small Stage (150 seats), the White Column and Concert Halls (220 seats). The Junior Hall hosts concerts and exhibitions, festivals and game programs, conferences and seminars. It is always fun, noisy and positive, and few people think that its pedigree goes back to the distant past. The first holidays in the Anichkova estate were held by Empress Elizaveta Petrovna herself back in the 18th century.
It was here, in the garden of the Anichkov Palace, that the first balls and masquerades of our city took place! At the beginning of the 19th century, especially for court entertainment in the Anichkov Palace, the architect Luigi Rusca created two luxurious classical interiors - the Dance Hall (now the White Column) and the Great Dining Room (now the Concert Hall).
Today they serve children: instrumental and vocal concerts, serious scientific conferences and, of course, New Year trees, beloved by all St. Petersburg residents, are held here! Anichkov Palace can rightfully be considered the birthplace of Russian New Year trees, because it was here in 1828 that Empress Alexandra Feodorovna organized a New Year tree celebration for her children for the first time in Russia. Today, Christmas trees in Anichkov have long become a brand, and they are held not only in the historical halls of the Anichkov Palace, but also in the large modern concert hall “Carnival”! The history of “Carnival” begins in 1986, when, in the depths of the Anichkova estate, designed by architects I.B. Noah and N.M. Kulikova built a bright and spacious concert hall. “Carnival” immediately became the main children's creative platform in St. Petersburg, a space of creativity and experimentation, festivals and concerts of the best children's groups of our city.
