Museum-estate of I. E. Repin “Penates”

Repin lived in “Penates” for the last 30 years, where he wished to be buried.

The estate belonged to Alexei Nikolaevich Olenin, the first director of the Public Library, president of the Academy of Arts. In “Priyutino” there was a special spiritualized way of life, which was later called “estate culture.” Famous creative personalities spent their evenings here talking about culture and art: I. 1 Derzhavin Museum-Estate

Derzhavina is a complex of buildings, including a greenhouse, a garden and a front yard. From 1791 to 1816, the poet's mansion was the center of cultural life in St. Petersburg. The creative elite gathered here. Since 1811, monthly meetings of the literary society “Conversation of Lovers of the Russian Word” were held in the main hall of the mansion, at which issues of the development of the Russian language and literature were discussed. The museum's exposition is deployed in 16 interior halls, where furniture, objects of decorative and applied art, paintings, graphics of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, books and manuscripts of writers of that era, authentic portraits of Derzhavin by V. Borovikovsky, A. Vasilievsky are presented.

The Rozhdestveno estate was built at the end of the 18th century.

The museum exposition tells about the past of the village of Rozhdestveno and its surroundings, the Nabokov and Rukavishnikov families, the events of the life and work of the emigrant writer Vladimir Vladimirovich Nabokov. On the territory of the estate there are red-colored caves. The caves are distinguished by their crimson color due to the Devonian sandstone. Inside there is a spring with healing water. “Arap of Peter the Great” acquired the village in 1759 and set up the main estate of his vast possessions here.

Pushkin’s mother was born and married here, and the poet’s nanny, Yakovleva Arina Rodionovna, was there, from whom Alexander Sergeevich learned about Lukomorye and the legendary oak. The museum in Suida is located within the walls of an authentic stone building from Hannibal's time - a former guest outbuilding.
