The Laundry Bridge across the Fontanka connects the Palace Embankment and the Kutuzov Embankment. The bridge starts right from the front grille of the Summer Garden. Actually, the Fontanka River begins right below it. This is not just a bridge - it is a stone sculpture, poetry in stone, which even a non-specialist cannot help but admire. The length of the bridge is 40.9 meters, the width is 14.3 meters.

St. Petersburg, Pracheshny Bridge
One of the first stone bridges.
It received its name from the palace Laundry yard located nearby on the Fontanka embankment. In 1766-1769, during the construction of stone embankments on the left bank of the Neva, a stone bridge across the Fontanka, called Lacherochny, was built under the leadership of architects I. L. Rossi and T. I. Nasonov.
The bridge is a 3-span stone arched structure, lined with granite.
The bridge arches rest on piers and abutments with pile foundations. The bridge has granite parapets and staircases along the sidewalks. At the beginning of the 20th century.
the wooden pile foundation under the supports fell into disrepair. In 1926, the bridge was repaired according to the design of engineer B. D. Vasiliev by engineers L. A. Krushelnitsky and A. L. Solarev. The bridge was fenced on the Neva and Fontanka sides with earthen bridges, the water was pumped out, the supports of the arches were cut off, and a concrete pad was placed in their place. The work was carried out in small sections to prevent settlement of the supports.
The completely destroyed ice-cutting bulls were dismantled and reassembled from new granite blocks. The work was completed in a record time for that time - 6 months. Thus, the Laundry Bridge has been preserved to this day without any changes, only the “humpbacked” character of the bridge has been somewhat softened.
